Digital Product Passports powered by GS1 Standards

In this session you will hear how the EU through Digital Product Passports (DPP), aims at delivering the necessary machine-readable infrastructure, to ensure the circular transition of the region. However, the success of the DPP is tied to its ability to function throughout entire circular value chains, as well as across many the different sectors.

This is where GS1 comes in.

Here you will see examples of how a DPP will likely look like, from the global organization responsible for supply chain standards everywhere. GS1 is dedicated to ensure that our members can continue using the standards that have helped build and grow their business for over 50 years.

Working directly with industry as well as through CEN & CENELEC technical committees, and liaising with the EU Commission, GS1 is on the forefront of the development of the Digital Product Passports.

Senior Standards & Sustainability Specialist @ GS1 Denmark

Combining an engineering background, a passion for innovative technology and a flair for communications, Mads Kibsgaard is the senior resource on Standards and Sustainability at GS1 Denmark, the Danish Member Organization of the global not-for-profit, GS1.

As lead on the transition to 2D barcodes in the Danish retail sector, as well as representing GS1 Denmark in the European Standardization efforts through CEN & CENELEC, Mads brings a unique perspective on the industry's maturity, as well as the work that still needs to be completed, before full implementation can be achieved.
