Planning under Pressure across Procurement, Production and Sales with BC and orderbase PlanningBoard
Adding Responsiveness to Business Central Production Planning
Business Central supports structured top-down planning. Sales enters the order, production plans capacity, and purchasing handles procurement. This flow is well covered by standard BC. However, the standard planning engine works with unlimited capacity assumptions, meaning it does not consider actual resource constraints when scheduling. The orderbase PlanningBoard enhances this process with interactive, graphical scheduling that adds visibility and improves planning reliability.
Yet real-world manufacturing also requires bottom-up responsiveness. Delayed materials or resource issues must trigger replanning and updates across departments. Standard BC does not support this feedback loop natively.
The orderbase PlanningBoard fills this gap with visual, capacity-based rescheduling and cross-departmental coordination.

I have been working at orderbase consulting GmbH for over a decade, driving supply chain solutions. For the past 6 years, I have been leading the AddOn Consulting team. My passion for SCM began in 1999 at Navision, where I worked for almost three years before the company was acquired by Microsoft. At Microsoft Deutschland GmbH, I continued in product management for SCM, focusing on Microsoft Dynamics NAV. This strong foundation led me to SAP AG, where I spent nearly 6 years as a Solution Specialist in Supply Chain Control for SAP Business ByDesign. I graduated from the University of Münster in October 1999 with a degree in Business Administration, specializing in Business Informatics and Industrial Management.
