From Module Expert to Solution Orchestrator: A 5-Layer Framework for the Next-Gen F&O Consultant

A few years ago, being a "module expert" was the ceiling for an F&O consultant. Today it's the floor and in some projects it's already a liability. Dynamics 365 F&O has quietly turned into something else: an AI-infused, data-connected platform where the consultants who actually move the needle look pretty different from the ones who did it well in 2020. Most partners haven't caught up. We still hire, train, and staff against the old profile and then wonder why delivery feels harder.
I want to share a 5-layer framework I've been using to think about this, shaped by two things: running an 11-person delivery team day to day, and the view I get through Companial across a lot of Dynamics partners in Europe and North America. The layers are Business & Process Fluency, Platform & Data Architecture, AI & Copilot Orchestration, Extensibility Judgment, and Advisory & Change Leadership. It's something I actually use when I'm hiring, planning who goes on which project, or figuring out where a consultant is stuck.
In the session I'll walk through where partners tend to over-invest, where we quietly under-invest, and what breaks when one of the layers is missing. You'll leave with the framework, a rough self-assessment for your own team, and a view on which layer is probably worth fixing first.

Speakers:

Ignas Stočkus

D365 CE & Power Platform Business Line Manager at Companial | F&SCM Solution Architect

I'm Ignas Stockus. I lead the Dynamics 365 CE and Power Platform business line at Companial, where I'm responsible for how we deliver CE and PP services to Microsoft partners across our network. In parallel I've spent the last 11+ years as a Technical Solution Architect on Dynamics 365 F&SCM - a role which I still hold - which means on any given week I'm running a CE/PP practice and architecting an F&O solution. Most people in this ecosystem live on one side of that fence. I've ended up living on both, at the same time, and it's changed how I think about what a modern Dynamics specialist actually needs to know.
Through Companial's position across the partner ecosystem I get a cross-section view of how partners are (and aren't) adapting their consultants for an AI-shaped Dynamics world. I write and speak about what I see, and I'm based in Vilnius.
