Getting Started with Word Layouts in Business Central

11:15 - 12:00 Wind 50 Back to event schedule

Are you a consultant or developer who still relies on RDLC for all reports because Word layouts seem too hard/too basic/too ***?

This workshop is designed just for you! We'll break down the basics of Word layouts in Business Central, making it easy and approachable for everyone - customers, developers and consultants.

In this session, you'll learn:
1) The fundamentals of Word layouts and how they differ from RDLC.
2) Step-by-step guidance on creating and customizing Word layouts.
3) How to implement basic formatting/style in Word layouts.

Why should you learn how to use Word layouts? It's no secret that Microsoft is moving away from RDLC for standard reports. It's not even a secret that in a couple of years, there probably won't be any RDLC reports in standard applications. It's also no secret that RDLC is obsolete technology that is no longer maintained by Microsoft (and that the team responsible for this technology no longer exists in Microsoft). All these points should give you a clear idea that you should not implement RDLC for every layout you do, and you should consider other options, such as Word & Excel layouts.

You'll need
- Laptop with access to Business Central and Office (Word)
